Need a hand up the tower?

Quick answers about controls, saves, custom words, audio, data deletion and supported devices. If something is still stuck, email a real person — the developer reads every message.

Getting started

How do I start a climb?

Choose Start climb, then pick Quick Climb (up to 20 words) or Full Climb (the whole selected level). You have five lives.

What do the articles mean?

German nouns have one of three genders: der (masculine), die (feminine) and das (neuter). The game asks you to land on the right one.

Is the game free?

Yes. There are no ads, no energy systems and no in-app purchases. Every level and custom-word feature is available.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Vocabulary, audio and art are local. The release app does not request internet permission and works in airplane mode.

Controls

Open Settings → Touch controls to switch at any time, even while a climb is paused. The choice is remembered.

Tap to answer

The easiest option and the default. Tap a platform and the jumper arcs there. No steering needed.

Joystick + tap

Slide left or right on the bottom pad to steer. A quick tap jumps; tap again in the air to double jump. Lifting your thumb keeps the last direction through the jump. A second finger also works as a jump button.

Two-thumb buttons

Hold left or right on the left side. Use the other thumb to hold Jump. Release and press again for a double jump; hold for a higher jump.

Keyboard

Steer with the left/right arrows or A/D. Jump with Space, W or the up arrow. Pause with Escape or P. Hold jump for height.

On Android, the system back gesture pauses a climb. On the result screens it returns to the main menu.

Progress and saves

Continue a climb

One unfinished climb is stored locally and appears as Continue climb on the home screen. It restores the exact word, article order, score, lives, streak, character, background and correction state.

When is a climb removed?

Starting or restarting a climb replaces the saved slot. Winning, losing all five lives or falling below the tower clears it. The app also saves when you pause or leave via the pause menu.

Why did my old custom words disappear?

Custom words are local to the device. Reinstalling or clearing app data removes them. If the app was updated, check My words to confirm the list is still there.

Custom words

Open My words and enter one entry per line:

der,Hund,dog

  • Use only der, die or das.
  • Add between 3 and 200 non-empty lines.
  • The article and word cannot be empty, and duplicate article + word pairs are rejected.
  • A comma inside the translation is allowed; everything after the second comma is the translation.
  • The list is saved locally and becomes the active My words level.

To remove the list, open My words → Delete all words. The game returns to A1 vocabulary.

Audio and haptics

No sound?

  • Check the in-game Settings → Music and Sound effects sliders.
  • Check Mute all.
  • On iPhone, check the device volume and silent switch.
  • Background music pauses when the app goes into the background and resumes when you return.

Haptics do not work

Landing haptics are optional. Enable them in Settings → Landing haptics. Some devices do not support light haptic feedback; the game continues normally without it.

Devices and versions

Android

Android 7.0 (API 24) or newer. Portrait phone layout; the game also runs on tablets. Version 3.0.0 (40).

iPhone

iPhone with iOS 15 or newer, portrait only. Version 3.0.0. The app is iPhone-only; there is no separate iPad build.

Storage

The install is small and all data is local. A device backup may include settings and the saved climb if backups are enabled.

Languages

The interface is English; vocabulary is German with English translations. No additional language packs are required.

Delete your data

There is no account and no server copy. Word Climb stores only local preferences, your custom words and one unfinished climb. You can delete all of it yourself in a few seconds.

Delete only your custom words

  1. Open My words from the home screen.
  2. Choose Delete all words and confirm.

Delete all app data on Android

  1. Open Android Settings → Apps → Word Climb.
  2. Open Storage and choose Clear data (the label may vary by manufacturer).
  3. Alternatively, uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes local data.

Delete all app data on iPhone

  1. Remove the app from the home screen, or open Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Word Climb → Delete App.
  2. This removes settings, custom words and the saved climb.

If you emailed support, you can ask us to delete that email thread. We keep support emails only as long as needed to resolve the request.

Accessibility

Tap to answer is the most accessible control mode and needs only a single tap per answer. The interface respects the system font scale up to a readable limit so the HUD does not break. If you need a specific accessibility feature, please email us and describe what would help.

Include your device model, OS version, app version and what happened. A screenshot is helpful if the problem is visual.
